Goal

The Trottier Energy Institute's Collaboration and Dissemination Support Program offers financial support to faculty members and researchers at Polytechnique Montréal, HEC Montréal or Université de Montréal who wish to contribute to the societal dialogue on an energy issue that is the subject of a collaborative project involving them.

Eligible activities must involve external collaboration, to encourage the exchange of expertise.

  • Bring new or complementary expertise to Polytechnique, HEC or UdeM to those already present.
  • Encourage national and international collaborations.
  • Promote the creation and dissemination of knowledge on energy issues.
Support program

Types of activities eligible for support

  • Participation in national and international research programs (e.g. AIE Technology Collaboration Programs).
  • Short stays by researchers.
  • Holding working meetings.
  • Organization of workshops with academic, public or private sector partners. private sector.
  • Any other relevant collaborative project, coupled with a dissemination activity.

Grant obligations

  • Contribution to the dissemination of information on the energy issues addressed by the project. The contribution can take various forms, such as :

    • General public activity, such as a conference, panel discussion, etc. (general public refers here to any audience outside the discipline concerned);
    • Synthesis of the state of knowledge and progress on the subject in question;
    • State of the art on issues related to the subject;
    • Pedagogical material that can be used to feed a MOOC, such as a video capsule, visual presentation, etc.

    Note: the production costs of this contribution do not have to be included in the funding application; those related to content development do.

  • Acknowledgement of the IET's contribution to all activities, publications and communications resulting from the grant.

Eligible expenses

  • Registration or participation fees for a collaborative program.
  • Travel and accommodation expenses for a visiting researcher.
  • Organization of expert working meetings at Polytechnique, HEC or UdeM.
  • Content development (scoping document, summary report, poster, website, etc.).

Financing and budget

  • The maximum amount that can be requested is $10,000 per activity.
  • Financial participation from outside the IET may be required, depending on the nature of the proposed activity.
  • A maximum annual budget of $50,000 has been set aside for this support program.
  • There is no obligation to allocate the full amount; only the quality of applications will be considered.
Program operation

Eligibility conditions

  • The activity must be related to an energy issue.
  • Employees must confirm their participation in the activity.

Selection criteria

  • The innovative nature of the research - multidisciplinarity will be considered an asset. an asset.
  • The interest of the theme addressed.
  • Qualifications of the guest researcher (if applicable).
  • Dissemination potential.

Application file

The request for support must include the following elements:

  • Presentation of the initiative to be supported
    • Nature of the initiative
    • Collaborators involved
  • Relevance to the researcher
  • Interest for the IET and the host institution
  • Dissemination and visibility plan
  • Project budget
    • Total project budget
    • Funding requested

Award method

  • Requests for support will be accepted throughout the year.
  • Announcements of support will be made 3 times a year, once per session, on the recommendation of an evaluation committee.
  • The IET reserves the right to offer ad hoc support where appropriate.
