To fulfill its mission of analyzing energy issues and supporting industry players in implementing solutions, the IET is working on several projects simultaneously. While some are internal initiatives, others respond to calls for contributions from various organizations, such as Natural Resources Canada, the Auditor General of the City of Sherbrooke, or the City of Montreal. These projects, on which the IET team is working and which are listed below, are to be distinguished from the projects financially supported by the IET, which are led by university researchers. The IET may also be asked to facilitate dialogue between stakeholders on certain issues.
Putting in place an evaluation framework
The main objective of this project is to co-develop, through independent analysis and close exchanges with stakeholders and specialists, an evaluation and comparison grid for biomass uses in a context of transition to carbon neutrality.
Modelling and analysis
The Canadian Energy Outlook project describes and analyzes the transformations required to energy services in order to meet net-zero objectives in Canada, where these services are strongly associated with quality of life and standards of living, from transportation of people and goods, to heating and cooling buildings.
Visualizing scenarios
This project led to the development of a new online interactive dashboard for visualizing Canadian carbon neutrality scenarios.
