The Institut de l’énergie Trottier (IET) of Polytechnique Montréal invites applicants to apply for the position of Senior Visiting Professor or Senior Visiting Scholar for the academic year 2018–2019. The term of this position will not exceed twelve (12) months.
The IET’s mission is organized around the following three axes: training, research and dissemination. The IET thus seeks to foster a systemic and transdisciplinary understanding of energy issues for the next generation of engineers, to encourage the search for sustainable solutions to ensure the future of energy, and to raise the level of social debate on these issues.
The successful candidate will contribute to the execution of this mission by providing scientific leadership for the various activities at the Institute. In particular, the IET organizes an annual symposium on Sustainable Engineering, Energy, and Design. Other initiatives include the publication of white papers on timely issues in the area of energy, and various programs to support interdisciplinary research.
Required profile
Candidates are expected to be senior university faculty at the level of Associate or Full Professor, or to have equivalent standing in a research or industrial environment. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in a major area of energy science and engineering, as well as a system‐level vision of the field of energy as a whole and of the current challenges and opportunities at the national and international levels.
For the year 2018‐2019, the IET is particularly interested in candidates in the area of energy storage.
There is no teaching requirement associated with the professorship, but teaching can be arranged if desired. Knowledge of French is an asset.
