WORKSHOP ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN OPEN MODELLING PLATFORM
FOR DEEP DECARBONISATION STUDIES

On February 21 and 22, Natural Resources Canada’s CanmetENERGY laboratory and the Institut de l’énergie Trottier helded a workshop dedicated to pan-Canadian and North American efforts to improve simulation methods for studying and achieving deep decarbonisation.

Bringing together about fifty participants from academic and institutional circles, this workshop aimed to define the orientations of a future collaborative effort to provide the scientific and decision-making community with the means to conduct comprehensive studies related to achieving deep decarbonisation and electrification.

Attendees were able to identify barriers to adoption (e.g., market and regulatory), propose common approaches that researchers can take to adopt or build, and draft a work plan for the platform.
